How to Register for Digital Membership
During COVID-19 closure period:
We will register new members by phone, email or online self-registration. No ID required, and as long as we are closed, no fees.
These memberships are for digital resources only; no physical materials can be borrowed.
Digital memberships are for 3 months.
These short-term accounts allow you to use our online resources such as Overdrive and RBDigital. We can help with getting started, and there are help pages on our website.
A digital membership needs you to have a unique email address. Staff can override that if a few accounts use a family email but will check there are not excessive multiple accounts set up for one email.
Digital members can also place up to 5 holds on our Koha Catalogue, but cannot borrow until they upgrade to a full membership after we open.
How to get your temporary digital membership:
Go to our online Koha catalogue and look for the Login section. Below that, find “Don’t have an account? Register here.” https://koha.hanoverlibrary.ca/cgi-bin/koha/opac-main.pl
On the registration form, enter your details. Note that for this online process to work, you must have an email address, and that address must not be in use by a library member already. If you have family using the same email, call or email us for help.
At the end of the form, enter the five digit check to prove you are human and press submit.
The next screen will tell you there is a verification code coming to your email. Recheck you entered the email address correctly.
It may take fifteen minutes for the verification message to arrive, please be patient. Check your email trash/junk/spam folders if it takes much longer.
When the message arrives, click the link to verify that you received the email. You should arrive at a confirmation page that tells you your new username and password.
Be sure to log in and change the temporary password to something you will remember!
At this point, you can place holds on our catalogue. There is one more step to get online resources.
Contact staff by phone or email, to add a temporary “library card” number. This is so that you can register for Overdrive and RBDigital.
When we are back to normal, we will ask you to come in with ID to upgrade to a full membership. Welcome to our library!
