Community Event
Join us as we try to determine who the cold hearted killer is during our Ho Ho Homicide! On November 22th, the Hanover Public Library and the Hanover Curling Club welcome you to an evening of fine food and bone chilling murder. Become part of the story and interact with magical characters as you dive into the enchanting world of the North Pole, where holiday cheer turns into a chilling mystery. Two events taking place at 4:30pm and 7:00pm this event is perfect for friends or colleagues looking to enjoy a unique night out. This age of majority event will be held at the Hanover Curling club with an entrance fee of $50. Get your tickets at the Library or Scotiabank today and prepare for an unforgettable night of suspense, laughter, food, prizes and holiday cheer!
Adult Programs and Events
Coffee With: Norma Graham
Norma will be coming back for a special Coffee With just in time for Remembrance day! Join us November 7 at 10:30am in the Saugeen Room to learn about local war hero Bert Kennedy. Register today at the Library!
Clean and Green series
This series focuses on being more environmentally conscious. With presentations focusing on being more sustainable, homeopathic and natural. Past workshops have included creating natural tonics and growing your own garden. We are exploring topics of growing your own food, foraging, gathering seeds and more. Let us know if you have a specific interest you want to see included!
Older and Wiser series
This series of presentations is geared to our older generation. While anyone can attend, these subjects will be tailored to those who have become wiser through experience. Subjects such as keeping your mind sharp, palliative care, elder abuse, and senior nutrition are a few we explore here at the Library.
Older and Wiser: Medical Assistance in Dying – MAID
Medical assistance in dying (MAID) is a process that allows someone who is found eligible to be able to receive assistance from a medical practitioner in ending their life. Julie, Manager of Patient Services, will be in the Saugeen Room Wednesday, November 6 at 11am to answer all your questions about eligibility, rules and regulations. Register at the Library.
Older and Wiser: Cannabis Safety for Seniors
VIP Cannabis will be in the Saugeen Room Wednesday, November 13 at 10:30am to discuss cannabis use in the senior population. They will teach you everything you need to know about safe cannabis use and providing education on various products and uses to allow you to make informed decisions. Register at the Library.
Older and Wiser: Elder Abuse Prevention
Come to the Saugeen Room Tuesday, November 26th at 1pm to learn how to protect yourself. Angela Yenssen, Lawyer with Grey-Bruce Community Legal Clinic, will educate you on the new services available here in Grey-Bruce and how to get support.
Adulting
Interactive and hands on, this series is geared to our new and seasoned adults. It focuses on teaching valuable life skills and exploring those subjects that everyone should know but not everyone has been taught. Subjects such as budgeting, taxes, job skills, mental health and more.
Adulting: Financial Planning
Rich Stieger, Owner of Tri City Financial group will be here Thursday, November 21 at 6:00pm to teach financial planning. He will teach you tips and tricks on how to pay off debt and have better financial conversations with your loved ones. You will learn simple budgeting that works and how to create wealthy habits. There will be prizes! Register today at the Library.

Do you need help learning how to use a computer or tablet? There’s a free library service for that! We offer individual lessons with our tech helper. Contact the library to get started.

Stitch & Sip
Join us at our Drop in Crochet and Knitting Group. We have outgrown the newspaper area, meet us in the Saugeen Room socialize and do your fiber arts the Second Saturday of each month. All skill levels are welcome. Please bring your own supplies. We will have a limited amount of supplies available for those wishing to learn as well as someone who can instruct. Refreshments provided.
Special Date for October – October 5th!!
English as a Second Language (ESL) social circle
Join us the Last Saturday of the month from 1:30-3pm we will be hosting an ESL social circle. Come practice conversational English in a casual group setting with qualified teachers. The Library will be partnering with Employment Options and the Grey Bruce Newcomer Immigrant Women Collective to help guide newcomers to be more confident in their English language skills

Mahjongg
Drop in to play this exciting and addictive Chinese tile game at the library!
Players of all levels are welcome to join.
This group meets Thursdays at 1 pm.
Writer’s Group
Are you interested in writing? The Hanover Public Library hosts a Writer’s Group at 1:30 pm on the first Monday of every month in the Local History room.
This group is designed to get your creative juices flowing! The group practices writing using prompts, shares stories, and can even provide feedback on your writing if you’re interested. Writers of all levels are welcome, whether you’re just starting out or have been writing for years.
The group also hosts the occasional professional writer who shares their expertise with members.

Kid’s Programs and Events
Bouncing Babies
Brand new this fall! Join Laura-lee in the Library Friday mornings at 11am for special songs and stories for babies. Geared for babies 0 to 36 months.
Storytime
Join Laura-lee in the Community Hall on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 am for songs, stories, and a craft!
Lego Club
Join us last Monday of the month from 4pm to 6pm. For ages 0 – 12, come create Lego masterpieces at the library.
After School Art
Come work on fun crafts and art projects to take home. Join us in the Community Hall, please register at the library. Cost $2, to cover art supplies.
PD Day: Craft Bags
Come in every PD day for a take home craft bag and a small activity in the library.
