Reading with the Dogs

Reading to dogs significantly boosts children’s reading skills, confidence and attitudes towards reading by providing a non-judgmental, calming and supportive audience, leading to better fluency and comprehension, while also reducing child and animal stress, fostering empathy and improving socialization. This program is offered at the Hanover Public Library in partnership with St Johns Ambulance child-tested therapy dogs.
